Weekly Food Plan

I plan my food a week in advance.
Really, an entire week.
Now, I will review it each morning to make sure there aren’t any major changes – but I lay a framework for how my family and I will eat a week at a time.
I look for any obstacles (team sports) or special plans (date night) and make a plan for those nights too. I put it in my calendar (and send a text to my husband so he knows the plan too). Then I plan my grocery list.
Then when it comes time to eat those meals, I stick to my plan.
Why take the time to do this every week? Well, I had a problem.
Before I learned the power of planning and lost weight I used SO much mind energy for food. What can I eat? What should I eat? How much should I eat? Was that good for me? Was that bad for me? What will the scale say?
Honestly, looking back I’m surprised I got anything else accomplished. Planning helps me take back control of my terrible mind drama around food.
I also don’t think of foods as “bad” or “good” anymore, but that’s a story for another day.
Now, planning for a week at a time may feel like too much or it may feel overwhelming. I hear you. But I promise, planning your food for the day BEFORE you are “in the moment” is a vital component of taking back control of your food-mind drama.
