How to enjoy ice cream even if you want to lose weight

 

I love to plan my food.  This includes ALL the food.  This includes my food that I enjoy for fuel and this includes my food that I enjoy for fun.


See, I dropped all that “good” food / “bad” food stuff a long time ago.  Now, yes – I do advocate limiting sugar.  I stand by that.  There are lots of scientifically backed reasons to limit sugar that are very valid. 

 

There is also the occasional “joy eat” that I enjoy on special occasions.  Like today.  National Ice Cream Day.  

 

The reason I am free to FULLY enjoy ice cream today is because I planned to have it.  See, if I made a last-minute decision and went off of my plan, inevitably I would feel guilt (and maybe even worse – shame).  My negative brain would start a record player of noise about how I let myself down, how I was weak for not resisting, how I was doomed to gain all my weight back, etc.)

 

The beauty of planning this joy eat – no negative record player to contend with. 

 

I used my smart, in control, planning for my best future brain and decided ahead of time that ice cream was on the menu for today. 

 

This small shift in thinking lets me ditch the shame and makes the ice cream taste twice as sweet!
